A Nevada Police detective, who was conducting an investigation on March 30, went to the 800 block of North Clay about 4:30 p.m., to try and locate a suspect.

When the resident answered the door and saw that the police were present, ran out the back door to flee from the police. The Detective recognized the suspect as a member of the Vernon County Most Wanted List so both the detective and a cover Nevada Police Officer chased the suspect on foot, losing sight of the suspect after a several block chase.

The initial responding officers were joined by other available law enforcement officers. A perimeter was established and police began a grid search of the neighborhood. Searching officers discovered an unsecured cellar door in the 500 block of West Cleveland, and located the suspect hiding in a corner. The police determined that the suspect unlawfully entered that privately, occupied home.

Taken into custody without further incident was 30-year-old Gregory M. Roberts. At the time of his arrest, Roberts was arrested on three separate arrest warrants including:Tampering with a motor vehicle -- first Degree, Possession of a controlled substance and DWI.

Roberts was transported to the Vernon County Jail. No bond has yet been authorized on these charges.

Additional charges have been added based on the foot pursuit that include: Resisting arrest and burglary second degree.

Bond was set at $10,000 on these additional charges.
