Rebecca Sue Blunt

Rebecca Sue Blunt, 56, Nevada, Mo., passed from this life on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at St. Lukes Hospital, in Kansas City, Mo., following a brief illness. Rebecca was born Sept. 24, 1959, in Fort Scott, Kan. She was united in marriage to Wayne Thomas Blunt on April 29, 1977, in Walker, Mo., and he survives of the home.

Rebecca was raised in Nevada and Walker and attended Walker High School. Following high school Rebecca worked at On My Own in Nevada for 20 years before retiring in January of 2016 due to disability. She enjoyed camping, being with her family, spending time with her grandchildren, and going to the races.

In addition to her husband, Wayne, she is survived by one daughter, Marlena McElreath, of the home; grandchildren, Kendra Blunt, Megan Friend, Justice Graham, Damien Graham, and Liberty Graham, all of Nevada; sisters, Kim Neal and her husband, John, El Dorado Springs, Mo., Michelle Smith and her husband, William, Nevada, and Tonia Eaton and her husband, Mike, Nevada; brothers, Lyndon Eberhard and his wife, Natalie, Nevada, Gregg Garrett and his wife, Christy, Nevada, Kelly Compton and his wife, Beverly, Liberal Mo., and Rick Compton, Port Hadlock, Wash.; and also Heather and Andrew Bechtle whom she raised as her own; her mother, Lucy Mae Pettibon, Lowery City, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Wayne Blunt; one daughter, Regina Blunt; her father, Leonard Garrett; four nephews, Colby Martin, Corey Martin, John Bechtle, and Jesse Neal; her mother-in-law, Orva Roberts; and one brother-in-law, Gregg Jones.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 11, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with the Rev. Mark Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
