Lady Cats top Hume in two

In a Golden Valley Vernon County Conference match Monday evening, the visiting Bronaugh Lady Wildcats earned an impressive two-set victory over the Hume Lady Hornets 25-21, 25-9.

The win improves Bronaugh to 3-6-1 overall. More importantly, Bronaugh is now 3-0 in GVVC-play.

"It was a good effort after playing all day Saturday and coming back and winning today," Lady Cats coach Daryl Dodson said. "We played with more intensity in the second set, but we are still improving as a team."

For Bronaugh, senior Katey Rider recorded a team-high seven kills, followed by Becca Raper with four; while Kailey Harrell chipped in with four aces.

Bronaugh was in action Saturday at the Thomas Jefferson Invitational in Joplin.

The Lady Wildcats opened play splitting with McAuley in pool play, 25-23, (23-25). Bronaugh then matched up against Exeter, as they were toppled 25-15 and 25-11. The Lady Wildcats later squared off against host Thomas Jefferson, falling in three sets 26-24, (25-18), and (25-9).

"Not a bad day," Dodson said, "a lot of good experience for the girls. We just have to keep improving."

Against McAuley, Raper led the team with seven kills, while Rider notched a dozen for the tournament.
