Road Warriors: Lady Tigers sweep Center in KC

Notching a West Central Conference victory in its final regular-season road contest Tuesday night, the Nevada Lady Tigers volleyball team dispatched the Kansas City Center Yellowjackets 25-12, 25-18.

With the victory, the Lady Tigers reached the 20-win plateau for the fourth consecutive season (and fifth time during NHS head coach Ashley Thoreson's six-year career with the Lady Tigers), improving to 20-11 overall (8-3 WCC).

Lady Tigers stats leaders included: Margaret Cavener with four aces; Megan Hold, 11 kills; Ellie Smith, 13 assists; and Liz Cassidy, eight digs.

The Lady Tigers junior varsity squad dropped its first set to Center 26-24, but then bounced back to grab sets two and three by scores of 25-14 and 25-7. Like the varsity team, the JV Lady Tigers also hit the 20-win mark, upping its record to 20-7. The Lady Tigers freshman squad throttled Center 25-10, 25-11, as they're now sitting at 22-5 on the season.

Senior Night on tap

The Lady Tigers wrap up the regular-season tonight, as they host Kansas City O'Hara in a WCC matchup on Senior Night at Wynn Gym. The junior varsity contest is slated for 5:30 p.m., followed by the varsity match. The Lady Tiger freshman team is not in action.
