The city of Walker board of aldermen will no longer meet on the third Monday of each month.

Mayor Phil Martin proposed the change at the Oct. 25 meeting.

"I would like -- if it's acceptable to you -- to move the meeting to the last Tuesday of the month," Martin said. "It pushes us down far enough so we can have everything paid, as opposed to what it was in the past."

Alderman Mike Newman said he did not have a problem with changing the meeting date.

Alderman Phil Thompson said the fourth week of the month was better for him.

Following a brief discussion, the board voted 3-0 to approve Martin's proposal to move the meeting to the fourth Tuesday of each month. Aldermen Traci Longstreth and Pamla Scholes were not present.

While the meeting date will change, the meeting time will remain 7 p.m.
