Dennis A. Pendrak

Dennis A. Pendrak, 68, Nevada, Mo., passed from this life on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Mo. following a lengthy illness. Dennis was born on January 15, 1948 in Arkansas City, Kan. to A.F. "Del" and Erma Jean (Cassady) Pendrak. On July 29, 1972 he was united in marriage to Lois A. Lewis in Arkansas City and she survives of the home.

Dennis attended school in Kansas and graduated from Arkansas City High School Class of 1966. Following high school he attended Pittsburg State University where he ran track. Dennis graduated from there in 1970 with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Education. He then attended graduate school at Wichita State University and while there assisted with the track team. Dennis earned his Mastor's Degree in 1975. Dennis came to Nevada in 1977 where he began employment at Nevada R-5 School as the Physical Education teacher. He was the head track coach for 15 years and also coached boys and girls tennis from 2003-2007. In 2007 Dennis retired after 30 years of service. His memberships include the First Presbyterian Church in Nevada.

In addition to his wife Lois; he is survived by three daughters, Jan Hoth and her husband Nick, St. Louis, Mo., Gina Pendrak, Joplin, and Lisa Nolan and her husband Brandon, Wathena, Kan.; two grandchildren, Elaine Hoth, and Ann Hoth; his mother, E.J. Pendrak, Arkansas City; one sister, Susan Metzen, Independence, Mo.; one brother, Brad Pendrak, Derby, Kan.; several nephews and a niece. He was preceded in death by his father, Del, in 1989.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church in Nevada with Rev. Greg Ferree officiating. Interment will be held in Riverview Cemetery in Arkansas City at a later time. Friends may call at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada, Mo. from now and until the hour of service.
