Lady 'Cats fall in title game

The Bronaugh Lady Wildcats varsity basketball team was defeated 34-31 by Colgan-St. Mary's in the Tony Dubray Classic championship game Saturday night at Liberal High School.

The third-seeded Lady Wildcats (13-3) got off to a slow start against fourth-seeded Colgan, trailing 15-4 through one quarter of play. The Lady 'Cats then doubled up Colgan in the second quarter 6-3, making it an 18-10 halftime deficit.

Bronaugh crept closer, outscoring Colgan 10-8 in third stanza, as Colgan led 26-20 entering the final frame. Bronaugh then concluded with an 11-8 fourth quarter advantage for the final three-point margin.

Both teams finished cold from the field, as Bronaugh shot 31 percent (13-of-41) while Colgan connected on 11-of-41 attempts (26 percent). At the charity stripe, Bronaugh was 4-of-9 (44 percent), while Colgan knocked down 10-of-17 (58 percent).

The Lady 'Cats held a 27-22 rebounding advantage, but turned the ball over 17, while Colgan committed 10.
