The Nevada Tigers sixth-grade boys traveling basketball team captured first-place at last weekend's El Dorado Springs Tournament. The Tigers opened play with a 32-26 defeat of Leeton, followed by a 24-18 win over Adrian. After surviving pool play, the Tigers squared off against El Dorado Springs in the championship game where they cruised to a 31-19 victory. The Tigers (13-3 overall) return to action this weekend as they're set to compete at the Fort Scott (Kan.) Tournament. On Feb. 4, the Tigers are slated to host a 34-team tournament, with the games set to take place at Nevada High School, middle school and the Osage Prairie YMCA. The tournament is for third through sixth-grade teams. Currently, 22 boys teams are registered and 12 girls teams.
