Dennis "Butch" Markham

Dennis "Butch" Markham, 66, of Nevada, died Jan. 27. He was born in Canyon, Texas, the son of Frank and Norma Markham.

He graduated from Bronaugh High School and later received his BS from the University of Missouri in Columbia.

He leaves behind his wife Toni; his son, Tyson and wife, Jennifer; and two grandsons, Jackson and Bennett of Raymore, Mo.; and his son, Logan, of Leawood, Kan. In addition, he is survived by his mother Norma and his sister Marsha, both of Seneca, Mo. Butch was a son-in-law of Fern Welch and an in-law of Dr. Jerry Morris and Terri Morris. He was preceded in death by his father.

Butch was a successful community banker for 45 years. He was recently a vice-president at Southwest Missouri Bank in Webb City, Mo. He was previously employed at First National Bank in Nevada. No matter if it was Nevada or Webb City, Butch made a significant impact in those communities. He served on the Nevada R-5 School Board for an eight year period, in addition to other civic boards. Butch was able to ingrain himself in the community and develop new relationships along the way. He was very instrumental in starting the booster club and foundation board for the Webb City High School.

In true "Butch" fashion, there will be a celebration of life service on Saturday, Feb. 25th at 2 p.m. at the Nevada County Club. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to the Butch Markham Scholarship Fund and sent to First National Bank (Nevada).
