Rural Nevada man arrested

Saturday, March 18, 2017

According to Vernon County Sheriff's office, Christopher L. Ensor, 37, a rural Nevada resident, wanted on a Felony warrant, was taken into custody on Thursday afternoon after a deputy spotted him driving near the Sheriff's office in Nevada. Ensor was wanted on a warrant for failure to obey a judge's order on drug-related charges.

Also seized during the traffic stop, according to Sheriff Jason Mosher, were suspected methamphetamines and a firearm which has been identified as stolen from the Joplin area. Ensor is being held in the Vernon County Jail with no bond. Mosher said his office will be filing additional charges for the suspected drugs and stolen firearm.

Last August, a Class C felony charge alleging possession of a controlled substance was filed against Ensor. Released on bond, he was ordered to take a regular urinalysis to check for THC. Failure to perform such a test led to a warrant being issued on Monday.

Ensor was already set to appear before Vernon County Associate Judge Neal Quitno on Thursday, March 23 for a pre-trial conference on the felony possession charge as well as seven other charges including felony vehicle tampering -- to which he pleaded not guilty in February -- along with two misdemeanor charges of driving while revoked along with misdemeanor domestic assault and harassment/intimidation.

Next month, Ensor is to be arraigned in Cedar County circuit court at Stockton on amended felony charges alleging burglary, victim tampering and violation of an adult protection order which had been filed in January 2016.
