Montrose was in control early, plating four first inning runs, followed by two in the second, four in the third and four in the fourth. For Sheldon (0-5), Mahalia Swink finished 1-for-2 with a pair of stolen bases; Brooklyn O’Connor 1-for-3 with a stolen base; and Hailey Hibbitts 1-for-2. On the mound, Sheldon starter Carrie Spencer struck out four over four frames of work.
“We continue to improve on both parts of the field,” Sheldon head coach Mike Galimberto said. “Offensively, the ball was being hit much better despite only having three base hits. Actual offensive production was 11 hits and eight were put outs. Errors were reduced in the field as well.”
