Tigers’ offense goes cold in loss to El Do
After picking up its most impressive victory of the season Tuesday against state-ranked Bolivar, the Nevada Tigers experienced a let-down on the diamond Wednesday as they were blanked by the El Dorado Springs Bulldogs 2-0.
The non-conference road loss drops the Tigers to 6-4 overall.
Nevada was unable to solve El Do standout Riley Boyd, who fell one out shy of a complete-game game shut out.
Meanwhile, Nevada’s junior varsity team earned its first victory of the season, throttling El Do 16-4 in a five-inning contest as they improve to 1-5 overall.
Nevada’s Jarrett Owen, who came on in relief of Ethan Couch with the game tied 3-3 in the bottom of fourth, tossed a scoreless inning and was the pitcher of record when Nevada exploded for 13 runs in the top of the fifth. Trent Ellis, who entered in the fifth, yielded a run but avoided any further damage as he shut the door on El Do.
C-team victory
On Tuesday, the Nevada C-team picked up a road victory after defeating Carthage 9-8. Nevada freshman Dalton Gayman was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a sacrifice fly and three RBIs The Tigers utilized three pitchers, as Gayman started, while Grant Miller and Noah Cheney made relief appearances.

As part of its make-up date with Center High School from a previously rained out contest, the Tigers are set to host Center for a twinbill, with the first pitch set for 4:30 p.m., today.
