James Edward Armstrong, 78, Niangua, Mo., son of James Albert and Maxine Edith (Nelson) Armstrong, was born Sept. 1, 1938, and departed this life on April 17, after a short stay at Marshfield Care Center, Marshfield, Mo.

James was united in marriage to Shirley L. Culver on May 22, 1963. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley; one son, James E. Armstrong Jr.; one brother, Albert Armstrong; one sister, Frances Sisson; and two granddaughters, Anita Nichols and Brooke Nichols.

James is survived by two daughters, Teresa Yahn and husband, Mark, Tammy Nichols and Brad Sell, all of Niangua, Mo..; one son, Jay Armstrong and wife, Dawn, of Pittsburg, Kan.; six grandchildren, Amanda Fender, Cody Nichols, Cassandra Armstrong, Michelle Kent, Michael Yahn and Melissa Boozer; six great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Graveside services for James Edward Armstrong were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 20, at White Chapel Cemetery, Springfield, Mo., under the direction of Day Funeral Home, Marshfield, Mo.
