Rebecca “Susan Rodick” Fanning, 47, Nevada, passed away on Friday, May 12, at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Mo. Susan was born Sept. 12, 1969, in Kansas City, Mo., to Edward and Barbara Lyn (Hardenbrook) Russum. She was united in marriage to James Wesley Fanning on October 18, 2014, and he survives of the home.

Susan attended Nevada High School and graduated with the Class of 1987. Following high school, Susan became a wife and mother. She devoted her life to working and caring for her children. Susan was very involved with her family in antique collectibles and arts and crafts. Susan enjoyed cooking meals, especially baking. She loved to surprise her friends and loved ones with her special goodies. In later years Susan developed a love for fishing and loved to go with her husband Wes. As a child living in Kansas City with her family, she got to attend Kansas City Royals baseball games and has continued to be a loyal fan of the Royals throughout her life. Susan loved to talk about her children. Her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her children and family. While at Kansas University Hospital Susan gave her life to the Lord and was baptized.

In addition to her husband, Wes, survivors include five children, Katie Rodick, Springfield, Mo., Chase Rodick, Nevada, Julia Rodick (Brandon Turner), Sheldon, Matthew Rodick (Blayne Hendrix), Nevada, and Karlie Rodick, of the home; two grandchildren, Brex, of Sheldon, and Johnny, of Nevada; parents, Barbara and Karl O. Householder; maternal grandmother, Genny Hardenbrook, Kansas City, Mo.; aunts, Rita Goade, Kansas City, Mo., Pam Hardenbrook(Danny), Garden City, Mo.; Mary Hardenbrook Cortez, Colo.; uncles, Vance Hardenbrook (Marie), Scottsdale, Ariz.; Steve Hardenbrook, Bixby, Okla.; cousins, Karen, Robin, Teresa, Michael, Andrew, Lee, Jess and Little Genny; mother-in-law, Norma Short, Nevada; sisters-in-law, Toni Chadd, Sherry Pruitt and Natalie Foreman; and other extended family and special friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Robert Hardenbrook; and one uncle, James Lee Hardenbrook.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 19, at the First Christian Church in Nevada with the Rev. Bill Platt officiating. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Fort Scott National Cemetery in Fort Scott. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday evening at Ferry Funeral Home.
