Marjorie Jean (Baker) Spencer

Marjorie Jean (Baker) Spencer, 91, Nevada, passed away on Monday, June 12, at her home in Nevada surrounded by her loved ones. Marjorie, one of 13 children, was born July 20, 1925, in Nevada, to James Otis and Bertha Rachel (Love) Baker. On Nov. 7, 1945, she was united in marriage to Vern Erwin Spencer in Nevada and to this union, three children were born. Vern preceded her in death on July 18, 2006.

Marjorie grew up in Nevada and attended Nevada schools. She was a member of Nevada Baptist Temple (Bible Baptist Church). Marjorie loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed making quilts with her twin sister Margaret, embroidering, crocheting and doing word search.

Survivors include her children, Vern Eugene Spencer, Nevada, Melba Jo Hogan and husband, Gary, Moundville, and John James Spencer and his wife, Linda, Sheldon; six grandchildren, Michael Spencer, Diana Spencer, Robert Spencer, Amanda Portwood, Ronnie Gannoway and Jennifer Householder; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Vern, she was preceded in death by one grandchild; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Donna Spencer; and her 12 siblings, Delores, Nell, Ruby, Alta, James, Helen, Patricia, Margaret, Mildred, Jesse, Bertie and Jack.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 16, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Bro. Jerry Pyle officiating. Interment will follow in Click Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.
