Eula “Faye” Hester

Eula “Faye” Hester, 96, Nevada, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, at Barone Alzheimer’s Care Center in Nevada. Faye was born July 22, 1920, in Nevada to Watson Henry and Lettie Mae (Hunter) Shumaker. She was united in marriage to Daniel “Pete” Hester and he preceded her in death.

Faye grew up in Nevada. Following her eighth grade year, she went to Omaha, Neb., with her sister Carrie and attended beauty school. She returned to Nevada and worked at Powder Box Beauty Shop and later Perkey’s Beauty Shop. She then owned and operated “Faye” Beauty Shop for a number of years. Faye resided in California most of her adult life until coming back to Nevada in 2011.

She is survived by two sisters, Mildred White, Baldwin Park, Calif., and Wilma Hartsell, Nevada; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Pete, she was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Frank Shumaker, Henry Shumaker and Harold Shumaker; and one sister, Carrie Loomer.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 26, at Newton Burial Park in Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
