Richard Hugh Johnson, 64, Nevada, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, at his home in Nevada. Richard was born Aug. 10, 1952, in Nevada, to Richard Edwin and Betty Sue (Callaway) Johnson. On Sept. 7, 1977, he was united in marriage to Shirley Jean Monter in Calhan, Colo., and she survives of the home.

Richard grew up in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School Class of 1970. He served in the United States Air Force from 1971-1974 during the Vietnam War as an aircraft mechanic while stationed in Germany, Spain, and Guam. Richard then returned to Nevada and went into farming with his father. He also worked at 3M in Nevada for 35 years until his retirement. Richard was a lifelong resident of Nevada, and was also a lifetime member of the First Christian Church in Nevada. He was an active Scout Leader, including District Commissioner for four years.

In addition to his wife Shirley, he is survived by two sons, Richard Sean Johnson, Nevada, and Roy Phillip Johnson and his wife, Nicole Marie, Jacksonville, Fla.; three grandsons, Liam Johnson, Gabriel Bailey and Daniel Bailey; one sister, Judy Gammon and her husband, Doug, Nevada; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial services with Military Honors will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 31, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. The family will receive friend from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
