Donald D. Vinzant, age 79, Nevada, passed away on June 25, in Florida. Donald was born into poverty and pain. He spent most of his childhood in foster care or the care of relatives. He was unable to read and write though he did learn to “draw” his name thanks to Mom. The one thing that meant the most to him in the entire world was the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. All he ever wanted was for us to do better than he did. Every morning when he lived at the trailer in Nevada, he drank his coffee looking at his accomplishments, that wall of photos, each and every one of us. We were his reason to live, his pride, his joy.

He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 50 years, Judith L. Vinzant; his sister, Iva (Micky) Margaret Lange; his son, Mark A. Vinzant; and his granddaughter, Amy Hastings. He is survived by his sisters Janet Marie Hailine, of Branson, JoAnn Kitt, of Des Moines, Iowa, and Sandra Fay Bourdan, of Des Moines, Iowa.

Donald is also survived by his children, Donna Rivard of Denver, Colo., Diana Hastings, of Spring Hill, Fla., Deborah McDannald, of Joplin, Lora Vinzant, of Denver, Colo., and Joaquin Vinzant, of Springfield, Mo.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Donald lived in Nevada but was on an extended vacation in Florida at the time of his passing from complications due to heart and lung disease.

His entire family is grateful for the amazing adventures he was able to experience in Florida with the assistance of his daughter Diana and granddaughter Kimberly. Every day is a great day in Florida, according to Dad. We would like to thank his grandson Joshua Hastings for bringing him home.

Services will be arranged by the family with the assistance of Ferry Funeral home and a Celebration of Life and Remembrance will take place at Newton Burial Bark, graveside on Aug. 5, at 10 a.m.
