Elmer Earl “Bill” Pettibon

Elmer Earl “Bill” Pettibon, 93, Deerfield, passed away on Friday, Aug. 25. Bill was born on Mar. 5, 1924, in Deerfield to Alva W. and Martha Lee (McGuire) Pettibon. He married Dorothy Louise McConnaughey in Deerfield on Sept. 3, 1950, and she survives of the home.

Bill grew up in Deerfield and graduated from Nevada High School Class of 1942. Bill served in the infantry of the US Army for three years during World War II. He spent most of his life working for Missouri Department of Transportation in Richards until his retirement. Bill was a member of the Church of God Holiness in Deerfield where he had attended for over 60 years.

In addition to his wife, Dorothy; he is survived by one daughter, Penny Montee and her husband, Kevin; Arcadia, Kan.; two grandsons, Kyle Montee, and his wife, Leslie, and their daughter, Laila; Fort Scott, and Kolby Montee, and his wife, Nicole; Farlington, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dennis Pettibon; and one brother, Robert Pettibon.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, Aug. 30, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Deerfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Ferry Funeral Home.
