Lady Tiger golf team places fifth in Purdy

The Nevada Lady Tiger golf team hit the links for the Purdy Invitational, held Wednesday at the Cassville Golf Club. With a final team score of 442, the Lady Tigers placed fifth at the eight-team event. The host Cassville Lady Eagles collected the top prize, after tallying a team score of 394.

Senior Mandy Crews carded the Lady Tigers low individual score of 102 to finish in a tie for 10th. For the 18 hole tournament, Crews was 30-over par, shooting a 47 on the front nine and a 55 on the back nine. Nevada junior Grace Palmer scored out at 104 to place in a tie for 12th. Palmer shot a 51 on the front nine and 53 on the back nine. Nevada senior Lily Quitno tied teammate Kaitlynn Vincent for 25th with a 118, while senior Sammy Gundy finished in 27th with a 120.

Meanwhile, Seneca’s Maggie Brown finished with the low individual score, 84. After concluding the front nine with a 47, Brown rebounded in a big way, firing a 37 on the back nine to edge Purdy’s Zoe Brown by two strokes.
