Lady Tiger golf team wins Butler Invitational
It was a triumphant moment for the Nevada golf team in Butler on Wednesday, as the Lady Tigers collected their first victory of the season at the Butler High School-hosted triangular.
The triangular was held at the Butler Country Club, as Nevada carded a first place team score of 210, besting runner-up Butler by four strokes. The Pleasant Hill Chicks placed third with a team score of 218.
“It was a fantastic win,” said NHS golf coach Brian Leonard.
Senior Mandy Crews led the way for Nevada, firing a nine-hole round of 10-over-par 46, earning the senior medalist honors with the low individual score. Lady Tigers junior Grace Palmer placed fourth individually after carding a 14-over-par 50. NHS junior Kaitlynn Vincent fired a 56; Lily Quitno, 58; while senior Sammy Gundy rounded out the Nevada scorecard with a 64. (Note: Top four scores are final tally).
“We still need to work on our overall consistency with all of the aspects of the game,” said Leonard. “Most importantly, we need to work on our short game.”
