Abby Harder’s gem in the circle lifted the Nevada Lady Tigers to a 10-0 victory over the Aurora Lady Houns in a non-conference road contest on Monday.

Harder, a freshman, struck out four en route to a five inning perfect game, setting down 15 straight batters in the Lady Tigers regular-season finale.

“Abby did a good job of getting strike one,” noted Lady Tigers assistant coach, Danny Penn. “She was painting the inside corner and threw her screwball inside to get some easy pop-outs and weak groundouts.”

Penn said Harder was in a zone.

“I don’t know if she knew what was going on,” he said, “but if she did, it didn’t show. She was locked in.”

Leading the way at the dish for Nevada, were freshman shortstop Tylin Heathman, who went 2-for-4 with three runs-scored, an RBI and two stolen bases; while senior Anna Fulton concluded 1-for-2 with three runs scored and a pair of RBI.

Carthage Invitational

Over the weekend, Nevada (12-14 overall) competed in the Carthage Invitational, defeating Joplin 9-8, but dropped three contests, falling to Ozark 10-0; Monett 3-2; and East Newton, 6-2.

In the victory over Joplin, sophomore Maggie Leisure notched the victory in the circle, while also going 2-for-4 at the plate.

“Maggie pitched a game that allowed us to field behind her,” said Lady Tigers head coach Tammy Holcomb.
