Lady Tigers net four victories in Clinton
It was an ultra successful weekend on the volleyball court for the Nevada Lady Tigers, who finished 4-1-1 at Saturday’s Clinton Invitational.
The Lady Tigers opened play with a straight set (25-17, 25-17) sweep of Harrisonville. Nevada next matched up with Bolivar, splitting a pair of sets — 25-22, 19-25.
In their third match of the day, the Lady Tigers prevailed over Osceola, 25-19, 25-22.
In the quarterfinals, Nevada edged past Hillcrest, 26-24, 25-23. Nevada then emerged victorious in a three-set thriller, toppling Butler 23-25, 25-23, 25-16.
The victory advanced Nevada to the Clinton Invitational championship match, where they fell to Bolivar in two sets — 13-25, 20-25.
For Nevada (15-13-1), junior setter Hailey Jackson concluded the tournament with 126 assists and 45 digs, while junior middle hitter Adrian Bond, finished with 63 kills, 11 blocks and five aces. Meanwhile, sophomore Stacy Pennington chipped in 44 digs.
The Lady Tigers return to the court today for Senior Night. The Wynn Gym home-finale matchup with the visiting K.C. Center Lady Yellowjackets, is slated for 7 p.m.
