Lena Blossom Brown, 94, died Nov. 11. She was born on Aug. 29, 1923, to Earl Reynolds and Grace Brumback.

She was happily married to Roy Brown for nearly 40 years, he preceded her in death in October 1986. They had two sons, Roy L. Brown and Fermon D. Brown. In later years her companion was Robert Turner, who passed away in 2003.

Lena was a teacher at Metz High School and St. Mary’s Parochial School. For a number of years, she taught Sunday School at the First Christian Church in Nevada. She devoted her life to learning and always taught her students to never stop questioning. She believed in reincarnation and as such, she felt we were all spiritually related. If this is so, she was surely born to be a mom.

She had five grandsons, Caleb Brown, Jacob Brown, Derek Brown, Josh Ashlock and John Hood; and two granddaughters, Natalie Kane and Chastity Hood.

A memorial will be held at the Nevada Elks Lodge on Jan. 7, from 1 to 3 p.m.
