Debra Dianne (Reedy) Garner

Debra Dianne (Reedy) Garner, 63, of Weir, Kan., passed away on Monday, March 5, at St. Luke’s Hospice House, in Kansas City, Mo., after a short battle with Lymphoma. She was the second child of Hazel Marie Austin and the late Oscar “Gene” Reedy. She was born on Oct. 14, 1954. Debbie graduated in 1972 from Walker High School, Walker.

Debbie was a dedicated employee of 20 years at Pittplastics in Pittsburg, Kan. Over the course of her time with the company, she received numerous awards for perfect attendance and excellence. She was a very crafty woman. Debbie had made countless quilts for family and friends. During her younger years, she was known for the western shirts and baby dolls she would make. Debbie had devoted her life to her family and friends always putting their needs above her own and never asking for a thing from anyone.

Debbie was survived by her daughter Regina McBride; a son-in-law, Jonathan McBride; two granddaughters, Nikkol Griggs and Mashell McBride; a son, Christopher Griggs; two grandsons, Austin Griggs and Andrew Griggs; two brothers, Paul Reedy and Chester Reedy; a sister, Carol Fleener; her mother, Hazel Green; and she was also expecting her first great-grandchild in September. She was also survived by two close friends Maggie Shilts and Deana Coester. Debbie was preceded in death by her father Oscar “Gene” Reedy and her step-father Charles “Pat” Green.

A memorial service for Debbie will be held by family and friends on Saturday, March 17, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Cemetery located between Nevada and El Dorado Springs. Anyone wishing to join in sharing a memory or paying their respects are welcome to join. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that all donations to be made to Mt. Vernon Cemetery or to cancer research in Debbie’s honor.

Debbie will always be truly loved and missed by her family and friends.
