Lady Tigers claim El Do track championship

Friday, April 13, 2018

The Nevada High girls track-and-field team was in top form at Tuesday’s El Dorado Springs track-and-field invitational — as the Lady Tigers earned a first-place team finish. “This was a great outing for us,” said NHS track-and-field head coach, Kirk Miller, adding that last week’s inclement weather cost his squad a pair of meets, including its home invitational.

The Lady Tigers concluded the 21-school event with 123 team points, while Joplin-area College Heights Christian slotted into the runner-up finish (105). Appleton City rounded out the top three team finishes, with 82 points. On the boys’ side, Nevada placed fourth with 63 points.

“Our athletes were hungry to compete and they performed very well,” added Miller. “Tonight was a great confidence builder for our varsity athletes heading into a very elite meet (today),” at the 29th annual Pitt State University Jock’s Nitch Classic.
