Lady Tigers blast Marshfield, fall to Seneca on diamond

Saturday, September 29, 2018

The Nevada Lady Tigers have had an eventful past couple days on the diamond — hammering Marshfield High School 15-5 on Thursday, and then falling to Seneca, 14-4 on Friday.

Tylin, Heathman, Hailee Lundine, Emily Johnson, Naudea Dodds, Maggie Leisure, and Abby Harder powered the Lady Tigers to Thursday’s Big 8 Conference cross-division road victory over Marshfield — combining to drive in all 14 runs (on 15 hits).

In the circle, meanwhile, Harder collected the victory, striking out two and walking a pair across six frames of work.

The Lady Tigers then hosted Seneca in a Big 8 West division clash Friday at Bushwhacker Field, as the visitors emerged with a 10-run victory.

Seneca jumped all over Nevada early, pounding out six runs in the second, before tacking on three more in the third to go in front, 9-0.

Trailing 11-0, the Lady Tigers plated four in the home-half of the sixth — averting a six-inning run-rule. Seneca, however, padded its cushion with a three-run seventh, accounting for the final 14-4 margin.

In the circle, Nevada starting pitcher Maggie Leisure took the loss, as the Lady Tiger move to 8-11 overall, and 4-5 in Big 8 Conference play.
