Freda Mae Tough

Freda Mae Tough, 84, Nevada, Mo., passed from this life on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, at Nevada Nursing and Rehab in Nevada surrounded by family. She was born March 10, 1934, in Nevada, Mo., to Jesse and Mary (Burnsworth) Hoover.

Freda was united in marriage on Aug. 23, 1952, to Robert (Bob) James Tough in Eureka Springs, Ark.. From this union two children were born – Steven Lynn Tough and Rebecca Ruth Tough. Freda and Bob lived in Metz, Mo., for 41 years. She was known to all as a wonderful, loving housewife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor, and friend.

Freda was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Mary; her son, Steve; her husband, Bob; two brothers, Joe E. Hoover and Elmer Hoover; two sisters, Jessie (Hoover) Johnson and Mary A. (Hoover) Spencer; foster parents, John and Bess Lynn; and stepmother, Jean Hoover.

Freda is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Chuck Humble of Rich Hill, Mo.; granddaughter, Bethana Humble also of Rich Hill; grandson and his wife, Andy and Rene` Humble, Metz, Mo.; great-granddaughters, Marie, Alaynna, Evalynn, and Piper, all of the Metz area. Also surviving Freda are her sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Grover Judd of Nevada; sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Richard Caldwell of Madison, S.D.; brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Freda Hoover of Nevada, Mo.; brother-in-law, Albert Spencer and his wife, Sue Ann, of Wichita, Kan.; sister, Janet Hoover; as well as three generations of loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with Myron Koehn officiating. Interment will follow in Balltown Cemetery in Horton, Mo. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home.

Freda requested that donations be made to CMTA (Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association) for further research in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
