Cold-shooting, turnover prone Tigers fall to Joplin at Carthage Invitational, 52-42

Monday, December 3, 2018

The Carthage Invitational third-place game, pitting the Nevada Tiger boys basketball team against the Joplin Eagles, was defined by low field goal shooting percentages and turnovers — with Nevada coming out on the loosing end, 52-42 Saturday afternoon.

Nevada led 9-8 entering the second, with the contest knotted 17-17 at the break.

Joplin star guard Evan Guillory caught fire from long-range in the third, as the Eagles built a double-digit lead, eventually going in front 44-30 midway through the fourth.

“As a whole, this was our first time playing against that type of speed and athleticism, and it took us a while to adjust to it,” said Nevada head coach Shaun Gray, as the Tigers (1-2) return to the court for tonight’s home-opener against Pittsburg (Kan.) High School.
