Cottey Comet golfers Rachel Hancock, Ashlee Collins, and Kim Scott competed in their third event of the season, hitting the links for the William Woods Spring Invitational (April 1-2), held at Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton, Missouri.

Hancock finished with the top score of the three, carding a (36-hole) 27-over-par, 171. Hancock fired an opening-round 85, and a final-round 86. Hancock’s two-day tally placed her in a tie for 19 at the 47-player event.

Collins, meanwhile, carded a 37-over-par 181, and finished in a two-way tie for 30th. Rounding out the Comets’ trio, Scott tied for 43rd, concluding with a 52-over-par 196.

William Woods’ Maria Zrodowska captured the individual championship, finishing with a 6-over-par 150, en route to the four-stroke victory.

“The women played pretty steady golf for two days,” said Cottey coach, Eric Cameron.

Added Cameron: “The course played tougher than the course (from our previous outing) at Missouri Valley, so I am happy with the scores. Nobody got into too much trouble, but nobody did anything outside the box, either.”
