Deerfield cattle sorting competition heats up

Cattle sorting at the Deerfield pen is heating up. The third competition of the season, held May 5, was a wild one, and also marked the first sorting of the six-week Buckle Series competition. Winning the youth division, were the team of Hailey Whitworth and Teresa Klumpp (adult). Placing runner-up, were Haley Whitworth and Bill Cackley (adult). Rounding out the top five, were: Mary Stone and Wyatt Whitworth (adult); the all-youth team of Mallory Crews and Haley Whitworth; and Erica Stone and Bill Cackley (adult). Klumpp made it a clean sweep, as she teamed up with Jonathan Whitworth to capture first-place in the Open division. Diana Adell and Brian Henderson slotted into the runner-up spot. Rounding out the Open division top five, were: Diana Adell and Wyatt Whitworth (third-place); Bob Ogden and Brian Henderson (fourth-place); and Bill Cackley and Bob Ogden Located 8.5 miles west of Nevada, the Deerfield Buckle Series competition resumes Sunday, May 19.
