Spring Street shooting results in fatality

Local law enforcement officers gather evidence at the scene of a fatal shooting that took place on Sunday afternoon at a residence in the 200 block of S. Spring Street in Nevada. Around 2:30 p.m. the Nevada Police Department and Vernon County Sheriff’s Office responded to the residence after a reported disturbance in progress at that location.

According to the latest press release, upon arrival at the scene officers located one male and one female subject inside the residence who had sustained gunshot wounds. Both were transported from the scene by ambulance to Nevada Regional Medical Center.

The female, identified as Terah Hallam, 30, was pronounced dead at Nevada Regional Medical Center. The male, identified as Jason Hallam, 38, was transferred from Nevada Regional Medical Center to Freeman Hospital in Joplin via air ambulance.

A third subject, Lance Berry, 20, of Nevada, was taken into police custody at the scene. On Monday, Berry was charged with Unlawful Use of a Weapon, a Class E Felony, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Class D Felony and Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Class D Felony. Berry is currently being held in the Vernon County Jail without bond.
