Wilma Grace Carroll

Wilma Grace Carroll, 99, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019, at Nevada Nursing and Rehab, in Nevada, following a brief illness. Wilma was born April 12, 1920, in Clinton, Mo., the youngest of six children of William Riley and Cordie Lee (Bennett) Wentworth.

At the age of 16 Wilma joined the Methodist Church. She moved to Kansas City, Mo., and married Frank J. Carroll on Oct. 4, 1947. They came to Nevada in 1981 where they resided for 10 years before Frank’s passing on March 31, 1991, following 43 years together. Wilma worked for Ward-Crook Paper Box Company in Kansas City for many years where she colored Easter chicks, and also worked for Stewart Hall in school and office supplies. She enjoyed cooking, tending to her flowers, and especially loved music and dancing.

Survivors include two sons, Billy W. Cook, Garden City, Mo., and James W. Cook, Lawrence, Kan.; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one stepdaughter, Donna Malone, Michigan; one step-granddaughter, Shawna Oglesbay; two stepgreat-grandsons; one stepgreat-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Frank, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lilly Mae Harris; four sisters; and one brother.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 31, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with Pastor Terry Mosher officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery in Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.
