GVVC basketball tournament update

The week-long Golden Valley Vernon County conference (GVVC) boys and girls basketball tournaments got underway Monday, with Franklin P. Norman Community Center as the host-site.

MONDAY RESULTS

On the girls' side of the bracket in opening-round action — the second-seeded Sheldon Lady Panthers bested sixth-seeded NEVC Lady Knights, 36-26. The fourth-seeded Hume Lady Hornets, meanwhile, knocked off fifth-seeded Ballard, 32-25.

Boys' bracket-action included No. 4 Ballard edging past No. 5 Sheldon, 52-47. And, No. 3 NEVC coasting to victory over No. 6 Hume, 58-29.

TUESDAY RESULTS

The tournament resumed Tuesday with the third-seeded Bronaugh Lady Wildcats upending NEVC in overtime, 41-37. In the other girls' contest — top-seeded Montrose drilled seventh-seeded Miami, 55-24.

On the boys' side of the bracket, No. 1 Montrose topped No. 7 Bronaugh, 50-38. In the day's final contest Hume upset No. 2 seed Miami, 59-51.
