Nevada City Council holds regular session meeting

The Council unanimously approved the December 3, 2019 Regular Session City Council Minutes.

There were no appointments to Boards and Commissions to consider.

There were no bids to consider.

There was no scheduled public participation, communications or petitions.

In Unfinished Business, the Council took up two items that had been tabled at the December 3 meeting.

First, consideration of Bill No. 2019-053 Establishing a Fee Schedule for the use of the Frank E. Peters Municipal Golf Course.

Secondly, consideration of Bill No. 2019-056 Approving and Authorizing the Execution of Amendment No. 5 to the Contract between the City of Nevada, Missouri and Alliance Water Resources, Inc.

In Old Business, the Council unanimously approved the Second Reading of Bill No. 2019-049 Authorizing the Execution of Change Order No. 1 to an Agreement with APAC-Central, Inc. of Springfield, MO.

The Council unanimously approved the Second Reading of Bill No. 2019-050 Accepting the Bid and Authorizing the Execution of an Agreement with Coonrod Construction of Nevada, Missouri for the Demolition of the Old First Baptist Church Building.

The Council unanimously approved the Second Reading of Bill No. 2019-051 Establishing a Fee Schedule for the use of the Park Shelter Houses, Colonel John Marmaduke Community Building and Twin Lakes Sports Complex Ball fields.

The Council unanimously approved the Second Reading of Bill No. 2019-052 Establishing a Fee Schedule for the use of the Walton Aquatic Center.

The Council unanimously approved the Second Reading of Bill No. 2019-054 Amending Chapter 28 of the Nevada City Code pertaining to sewers and sewage disposal.

The Council unanimously approved the Second Reading of Bill No. 2019-055 Amending Chapter 40 of the Nevada City Code pertaining to water service.

The Council unanimously approved the Second Reading of Bill No. 2019-057 Amending Chapter 25-4.102.-Holidays. of the Nevada Municipal Code.

The Council unanimously approved the Second Reading of Bill No. 2019-058 Approving the Fiscal 2020 Budget of the City of Nevada, Missouri, Appropriating from the Revenue of the City Requisite Funds therefor, Providing for the Adjustments thereof, Providing for the Salaries of the City Employees, Approving the Five-Year Capital Improvement Program, Updating the Organization Chart, and Approving the Public Records and Abatement Fee Schedules.

There was no New Business scheduled.

The Council received a number of monthyl reports beginning with the Municipal Court.

At the beginning of November, there were 186 pending alcohol and drug related traffic cases, 1060 pending other traffic cases, and 1120 pending non-traffic ordinance cases.

Cases filed included 1 alcohol or drug related traffic case, 79 other traffic cases and 39 non-traffic ordinance cases.

A total of 70 cases were disposed by guilty plea including 2 alcohol or drug related traffic cases, 49 other traffic cases, and 19 non-traffic ordinance cases.

In November, 87 warrants were issues, 78 served or withdrawn and there were 997 outstanding at the end of the month.

For the month of November, Nevada Fire Department responded a total of 63 incidents including four residential building fires, eleven medical calls, three vehicle wrecks, and a number of miscellaneous other incidents.

Animal Control reported 28 dog tags issued. There were 4 dog bites and 1 cat bite reported. There were 23 dogs and 1 cat impounded. There were 12 dogs reclaimed by their owners. Average daily housing at the animal shelter included 14 dogs and 17 cats.

Nevada Police Department responded to 1388 calls for service which resulted in 157 incident reports and 55 arrests, 90 traffic tickets, 20 written warnings and 21 accident reports.

The Council also received reports from Alliance Water Resources, Finance Department, NRMC Moore-Few Care Center Board and the Airport Board.
