Anna Wadel

Anna Wadel, 96, was born to Abe and Carrie (Koehn) Jantz on Oct. 5, 1923. She passed away peacefully at Medicalodge in Nevada, Mo., on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019. She was united in marriage to Frank Wadel on Feb. 2, 1941. To this union five children were born. They resided in Cimarron, Kan., until 1950 when they moved to Vernon County, Mo.

Anna was kept busy as a homemaker and caring for her young children until starting her career as a seamstress. She first worked at Nelly Don Dress Factory in Nevada then transferred to the Sewing Room at the State Hospital from which she retired at the age of 70.

She is survived by three daughters, Donna (Wesley) Dirks of Rich Hill, Mo., Joyce (Bruce) Becker of Nevada, Mo., and Janet (Joe) McIntire of Nevada, Mo.; two sons, Jerry (Bette) Wadel of Richards, Mo., and Ron Wadel of Richards, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; nine siblings; one granddaughter; and one daughter-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Dec. 27, at Bethany Mennonite Church in Rich Hill, Mo. Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at Bethany Mennonite Church in Rich Hill. Funeral services are under the direction of Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
