Melba L. McPeak

Melba L. McPeak, 92, of El Dorado Springs, Mo., went to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 21, 2020, at Moore Few Care Center in Nevada, Mo. Melba was born May 6, 1927, to Roy Hershall and Bessie (Haggard) Dennis.

Melba was saved and baptized at a young age. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in El Dorado Springs.

On March 3, 1943, Melba married Donald V. McPeak in Fort Scott, Kan. Four children were born to this union, one daughter and three sons. Melba worked alongside her husband in the insurance and real estate business for many years.

Preceding Melba in death were her parents; her husband, Don; two sons, Donald Ray McPeak and Terry McPeak; and two sisters, Margie Carter and Evelyn Harvey.

Melba is survived by her daughter, Sandra D. Hacker and husband Richard “Dick” of Nevada, Mo.; son, Scott McPeak and wife, Marty, of Sheldon, Mo.; two brothers, Roy Dennis and wife, Marvelene, of El Dorado Springs, Mo., and Dean Dennis of Colorado; sister, Donna (Dennis) Hopper of Republic, Mo.; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She loved her dogs over the years. Mr. Chips, Sissy, and MacBaby brought her so much joy and comfort.

Funeral services for Melba McPeak were held on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m. at Bland-Hackleman Chapel with the Rev. Brent Bland officiating. Interment followed in the El Dorado Springs City Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Eric McPeak, Ryan McPeak, Jared McPeak, Ethan McPeak, Mike Hutchison, Garin McCullick, and Chance Butterfield.
