Dorothy Jean Baker, 92, of Nevada, Mo., passed away on Wednesday March 11, 2020, at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. She was born May 10, 1927, to Joseph and Jennie (Colby) Siebert in Wright County, Mo.

On Dorothy’s first birthday, her mother passed away. Family friends, Henry and Arzilla (Carriger) Goswick took her in and raised her as their own daughter. She attended and graduated from Grove Spring High School. As a teenager, she was saved and baptized at Elk Creek Baptist Church. Dorothy enjoyed cooking, reading, watching her stories on tv, traveling, and going on road trips. She loved to try out new recipes on family and to send in recipes for cookbooks or contests. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Jeff Baker (Sharon) of Nevada, Mo.; stepsons, Rusty Baker (Sherry) of Nevada, Mo., and Jim Baker of Columbus, Ohio; daughters, Linda Owens (Jerry) Nevada, Mo., Hazel Stuart (Mike) of Mansfield, Mo., Jami Dotson (Lonnie) of Webb City, Mo., Melita McDermott (Marvin) of Nevada, Mo., and Janice Bliss of Nevada, Mo.; one sister, Ruth Wilson of Springfield, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well as the special people at Moore-Few that took care of her that she grew to love.

In addition to her husband, James R. Baker, she was preceded in death by her parents; foster parents; an infant daughter, Barbara Jean Edwards; granddaughter, Nikki Jean Baker; stepson, Donald Gene Baker; grandson, Don Owens; her siblings: twin sister, Doris June Siebert, Audrey Siebert, Virginia Turner, Ida Mae Davidson, Edwin Siebert, Johnnie Siebert Nolan, Ina Goswick, Edna Claxton, and Maydra Jones.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 16, at Newton Burial Park, in Nevada. There will be no visitation and the casket will be closed. A guest book will be available to sign on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon, and on Monday from 8 a.m. until the hour of service.
