Wednesday, April 1, 2020

Vickie Sue Koehn, daughter of Melvin and Viola Koehn, was born Feb. 24, 1961, in Hutchinson, Kan. She went to be with the Lord on March 29, 2020, in Nevada, Mo., reaching the age of 59 years. She was surrounded by her family at her bedside.

Vickie grew up and attended school in Walker, Mo. On March 14, 1975, Vickie was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. The evidence of her commitment to God throughout her life gives us assurance of her salvation.

She worked for many years at the Nevada Regional Medical Center, and during this time she endeared herself to many people and made many friends. She was dedicated to her work.

We remember Vickie as an outstanding sister, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed fishing with her brothers and nephews and traveling to visit her relatives. However, the greatest joy in her life was the relationships she enjoyed with those closest to her. We will always remember her giggle.

Those left to cherish her memory are her brother, Marlo Koehn; five sisters, Donna Schmidt and her husband, Steve, Connie Wedel, Hiawatha, Kan., Leslie Widdoes and Lois Villegas and her husband, Tomas, both of Hutchinson, Kan., and Anita Beasley and her husband, Mike, Moundridge, Kan.; and two sisters-in-law. Also surviving are two nieces, Robyn Schmidt and her husband, Darren, El Campo, Texas, and Carla Litwiller and her husband, Dylan, Versailles, Mo.; two nephews, Jamin Koehn and his wife, Amanda, Milo, Mo., and Brian Koehn and his wife, Hollie, Tulsa, Okla.; 10 great-nieces and nephews, and special friends, Marjo and Carrie Schmidt, and Lincoln and Tanya Brubaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and one sister.

A graveside service was held at the Living Faith Congregation, Walker, Mo., on March 31, 2020. Officiating ministers were Ron Koehn, Robert Smith, and Shelby Koehn.
