According to a recent press release, Cottey College has named Rose Howell to lead the school's cross country/track program.

Howell replaces Tony Skiles, who recently resigned after spending the past two years as the head coach of the program.

"I would like to thank (AD) Stephanie Beason and all those involved in the hiring process for giving me the opportunity to represent Cottey College and lead the Comets cross country and track program,” Howell said, via the release.

“In the short time that I have gotten to know Cottey and its community, it is evident how proudly and strongly they practice their core values on a daily basis. The passion to educate and support young women as they become responsible and respecting 'learners, leaders, and citizens' is clear and I am honored to be chosen to share in these values."

Added Howell: "“After meeting the young women on the cross country and track team, I am overjoyed to see the dedication and excitement they share for our team and our sport. We are all excited to hit the ground running and help this program reach its full potential on the course and in the classroom."

Howell's sterling credentials include assistant coaching stints at Purdue University Northwest, University of La Verne (Calif), and her alma mater Nova (Fla.) Southeastern University.

Additionally, Howell has a Master of Science degree in business administration, with a concentration in management and leadership from the University of La Verne, and a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Nova Southeastern University.

The release also noted that Howell is USA Track and Field Level 1 certified, and began her duties with Cottey on June 1.
