Ruth “Beverly” Ayers

Ruth “Beverly” Ayers, 82, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021.

Born June 27, 1938, in WaKenney, Kan., to the late Chester Allyen and Georgia Irene (Schuman) Stephens. The family relocated from WaKenney to Walker, Mo., in 1948.

Beverly grew up on the family farm developing a lifelong passion for animals, especially horses and cats.

She was a lifelong worker, retiring from the State Hospital to enjoy hobbies such as golf and quilting.

Beverly is survived by one son, Stephen Mabry (Nevada, Mo.); one granddaughter, Maddison and husband, Tanner May (Galena, Mo.); and one sister, Phyllis Doberer (Belton, Mo.). She is preceded in death by her husband, Keith Ayers; parents, Chester and Georgia Stephens; and one brother, Arthur Stephens.

Per Beverly’s wishes, there will be no formal service or memorial. Private Committal will be held in the National Cemetery in Fort Scott. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferry Funeral Home.

Those in attendance will be asked to maintain social distancing and are asked to wear face masks to protect themselves and others.
