Vernon County to partner with Region M for tire collection event

The Vernon County Commission has announced that the county is partnering with Region M to offer a discounted tire collection event.

The event — to be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Vernon County Fairgrounds (1488 E. Ashland St.), Sunday, May 2 — will include the shredding of tires and having metal threads removed. The rubber will be combined with other materials to be made into composite lumber for picnic tables and benches.

The event is funded through the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

The event is open to Vernon County residents only and is cash only. Attendees are encouraged to bring the correct change.

Tires may not be dropped off before or after the event and there is a limit of 10 tires per household. The event is not open to businesses. Those participating in the event are asked to remove the rims.
