Rain wipes out Thursday's sports
The area high school spring sports season had to hit the snooze button on starting for at least another day, as more rain on Thursday forced multiple postponements of the day's slate of events.
The Stockton Invitational, at which the Bronaugh and Sheldon track and field teams were scheduled to compete, was postponed until March 30 due to inclement weather.
The Sheldon baseball team had to delay the start to its season for the second time this week, after rain in Lockwood prevented the two teams from squaring off on the diamond Thursday afternoon. The Panthers had to cancel Tuesday's contest against Dadeville for the same reason.
The Liberal softball team (on which several Bronaugh athletes play) found itself in a similar spot. After getting rained out Tuesday against Lamar, the Lady Bulldogs also had to postpone Thursday's game against Stockton until April 6.
Additionally, the Nevada High School boys golf and tennis teams saw their season openers get rained out on Thursday. The Tiger golf team will now play at Butler on May 4, while the tennis team has not decided on a date to make up its opener against Aurora.
The good news: as of Thursday, Liberal softball versus Golden City and the Nevada Invitational (track and field) are still on schedule for Friday afternoon.
