Bond issues pass; Eberhard and Brockman named to City Council; Smith and McCaffree retain Nevada R-5 board seats

After Tuesday's general municipal election, two open positions on both the Nevada City Council and Nevada R-5 School Board have been filled, as well as two bond issues have been passed for the school district.

The unofficial results are as follows:

Receiving 43.11 percent of the votes and 38.67 percent of the absentee votes, Richard Brockman led in votes and took one of the positions on Nevada City Council. Filling the second position was Lyndon Eberhard with 38.06 percent of the votes and 37.33 percent of absentee votes. Wayne Blunt received 17.86 percent of the votes and 23.33 percent of the absentee votes.

Receiving 35.59 percent of the votes and 40.54 percent of the absentee votes, Mike McCaffree will remain on the Nevada R-5 School Board. Joining him is Monty Smith with 31.8 percent of the votes and 27.7 percent of the absentee votes. Adam Dean received 20.14 percent of the votes and 18.58 percent of the absentee votes. Brett Dawn received 12.28 percent of the votes and 12.84 percent of the absentee votes.

The two bond issues proposed by the Nevada R-5 school district passed as follows: Proposition K.I.D.S received 1,012 "yes" votes (69.03 percent) and 454 "no" votes (30.97 percent); and Proposition New Elementary School received 905 "yes" votes (61.61 percent) and 564 "no" votes (38.39 percent).
