Sheldon run-ruled in district opener
The Sheldon High School baseball team concluded its season Friday in Lockwood, suffering a 16-1 loss at the hands of McCauley Catholic in the opening round of the Class 1 District 6 tournament.
The Panthers, who were the no. 6 seed in the bracket, finished their season 0-9.
The no. 3-seeded Warriors (6-12) advanced to play no. 2 Liberal (8-14), which had a first-round bye. Those two teams will square off at 5:30 p.m. Monday, with the winner moving on to the district championship on Tuesday.
Who they play will depend on which team wins in the other semifinal game between no. 1 Lockwood (11-8), which also had a bye, and no. 4 Hume (8-6), which beat Bronaugh in the first round. First pitch between the Tigers and Hornets is set for 3 p.m. Monday.
