Comets land six sophomores on all-A.I.I. Conference softball list

Fresh off its first trip to the NAIA National Tournament in program history, the Cottey College softball team saw six players — all sophomores — named to the 2021 Association of Independent Institutions’ all-conference team.

Honorees included pitcher Lacey Cruz, catcher Lauren Johnson, infielder Caitlyn Morgan, infielder Aryana Palencia, outfielder Karina Ramirez, and at-large selection Alyssa Montoya.

Georgia Gwinnett College swept the conference’s most high-profile awards, with Piper Wagner taking home Player of the Year, Alexa Good being named Pitcher of the Year, and Kat Ihlenburg earning Coach of the Year. The Grizzlies finished the season 32-13. Cottey was 26-8.
