MINK League playoffs begin without Griffons

Tuesday, July 27, 2021

The three other teams in the South Division of the MINK League were automatically awarded playoff spots once the Nevada Griffons’ season was cancelled.

Now that the postseason has begun, though, nothing is guaranteed.

While the Sedalia Bombers earned a first-round bye thanks to their first-place season record of 20-17, the Joplin Outlaws (18-21) and Jefferson City Renegades (16-19) battled it out in the wild card round Monday night at Joe Becker Stadium.

The winner of that game will travel to Sedalia on Tuesday night for the divisional playoff game.

Then, the top team from the South will take on the winning team from the North for a best-of-three series beginning on Thursday.s

The Clarinda A’s wrapped up a terrific 32-4 season to win the regular-season crown in the North, forcing the St. Joseph Mustangs (19-19) and Chillicothe Mudcats (15-21) to square off in the wild card game Monday night at Phil Welch Stadium.
