Thelma Nilene Scholes-Shutters-Plain, 76, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 14, 2021. She was born June 19, 1945, in Kansas City, Mo., to Jesse Alvin and Bessie Alice (Sims) Schlup. She attended Calvary Baptist Church, was as member of the Nevada VFW and Eagles. She enjoyed bird watching, gardening, writing poetry and writing songs.

Thelma is survived by her children, Janell (Kenny) Hale, Lockwood, Mo., Ida (Frank) Lambrecht, El Dorado Springs, Mo., Luessa (Charles) Sumner, El Dorado Springs, Mo., Herbert (Pam) Scholes II, Walker, Mo.; grandchildren, Kayla Wilson, Shawna Hale, Jennifer Smith, Nathan Murry, Kris Matzke, Heather Smith, Caressa Bryan, Maddy Crawford, Brittany Herman, Joshua Scholes, Charles Sumner II, Cliff Sumner, Dallas Scholes, Navarre Scholes, Wyatt Lambrecht, and Oliva Lambrecht; several great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Larry (Vicki) Poe; and two sisters, Barbara (Rick) Smith and Bonnie (Scott) Stone.

Preceding Thelma in death were her parents; a husband, Herbert Gene Scholes; her stepfather, Edgar Allen Poe; a son, Douglas Eugene Scholes; four brothers, William, Roy, Tom, and James Schlup; and two sisters, Louise Friedli and Jessie Schmidt.

The funeral service will be at noon, Wednesday, Nov. 17, at the Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home in Schell City, Mo., with burial to follow in Green Lawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time, Wednesday, at the funeral home.
