Jason Lee Brumfield, 47, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021, at St. Lukes Health System in Kansas City, Mo., following a battle with COVID-19. He was born on Feb. 13, 1974, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Mary and Howard Brumfield. Jason was the last of six children, his parents finally realizing they had achieved perfection.

Jason was a man of many talents. He worked many years as an over the road truck driver where he earned his handle “polar bear," was a licensed body piercer, and had recently obtained certifications as a Harley Davidson Technician as well as a Gunsmith. He was looking forward to owning his own gunsmith business. Jason had a passion for helping others. He worked at NRMC on the Behavioral Health Unit before transferring to the ED. In his spare time Jason enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was well known for his amazing hugs and easy smile. Jason loved to laugh and make others laugh. He was incredibly onery earning him the nickname “sasshole," sassy and you can figure out the rest.

Above all else Jason loved family. Blood relatives and “adopted” family meant the world to him. He is survived by the love of his life, Jennifer and their two canine daughters, Mystique and Mirage; two daughters, Hailey Brumfield (Kelly) of Mt. Vernon, Mo., and RyLee Brumfield (Kay) of Clinton, Mo.; two sons, Dusty Miller (Jennifer) of Nevada, and Aaron Brumfield of Butler, Mo.; three sisters, Joyce Esparza (Daniel) of San Antonio, Texas, Sarah Hicks of San Antonio, Texas, and Jeannine Nagel (Dan) of Omaha, Neb.; one brother, James Brumfield (Tonya) of Omaha, Neb.; his stepfather, Ernest Colon of Sarasota, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews. Jason was especially close to the latest additions, Aubree (2 years) and Kalee (6 months). He was preceded in death by his parents, and an older brother, Joey that passed in infancy.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
