Etna Mae Stone Gransbury

Etna Mae Stone Gransbury, 75, Nevada, Mo., died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Mo., following an illness of several weeks. She was born on July 16, 1928, in McCook, Neb., to Charley Milton Thornley and Joanna Etna Bailey Thornley. She married Dick Stone on Oct. 20, 1945, in McCook, Neb. He preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 1984. She then married Arthur Gransbury in 1985 in Nevada, Mo. He preceded her in death on Nov. 17, 1995.

Mrs. Gransbury was a Baptist. She was raised in McCook, Neb., and came to Vernon County in 1957 and spent virtually the rest of her life here. She worked in the nursing department of the Nevada State Hospital for 24 years, retiring in 1986.

Survivors include four sons, Dave Stone and Leslie Stone, both of Milo, Mo., Harry Stone and Terry Stone, both of Nevada, Mo.; two daughters, Nancy Burris and Barbie Lawson, both of Nevada, Mo.; 34 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held on Dec. 3, at 2 p.m., at Moore Cemetery, with Tom Haynes officiating. Pallbearers were grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Interment was in Moore Cemetery, Nevada, Mo. Arrangements by Ferry Funeral Home.

The family suggests that memorials be made in her memory to the charity of the donor's choice.
